The Cowra community is invited to join in World Peace Day activities to be held on Tuesday, September 17.
The day will begin with the 2019 World Peace Day Regional Youth Forum at the Cowra Civic Centre from 9.30am until 3pm. The forum will focus on the World Peace Day theme: Climate Action for Peace.
The World Peace Bell ceremony and free barbecue lunch will kick off at 12.30pm.
The annual Public Speaking Competition will also run on the day and any interested high school students are urged to contact Linda Barron at Cowra Council on 6340 2064 as soon as possible.
This year's theme for the competition is "My World in 2050", with cash prizes up for grabs. The forum will also feature guest speaker Lis Bastian, founder of The Big Fix.
Following the forum will be the 2019 World Peace Day dinner, hosted by the Cowra Rotary Club at the Cowra Bowling Club at 6pm for 6.30pm.
The evening's guest speaker will be Dr Steven Mutch addressing the subject "Protecting Human Rights under a Parliamentary System: the Case of Majority Rules".
Attendees will also hear from the finalists of the public speaking competition and the Rotary Club's Peace Award recipient will be announced.
