Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey said business case reporting to the government would take into account the impact of raising the wall would have on the park.
"I think this might provide an opportunity to enhance (the park's) facilities, we'll work through that with council," she said.
"It's an important draw card, the tourist dollars that come from the tinnies and people having fun on their holidays.
"Whilst it's been challenged with visitor numbers over the last couple of years, it has always been high on the list of people that love to water ski, fish and enjoy our great water parks.
"It's a magnificent natural location and it has been a very successful in the past and we want to ensure new opportunities into the future as part of the upgrade to Wyangala Dam," she said.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke said the raising of the wall was good for the future of the park.
"It's such a fantastic attraction and brings so much joy to families particularly over the summer months," she said.
"We want to make sure there is a very bright future for the park.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how we can further develop the infrastructure there to make sure that future generations of locals and visitors alike are going to enjoy," she said.
