Cowra Hospital's physiotherapy department has received a state-of-the-art Slidex Tilt Table, worth $10,995.

Physiotherapist at Cowra Hospital, Jack Baker, said the table will assist those who may be bed bound or suffering with mobility issues.

"The new tilt table that was kindly donated by the Auxiliary, after months of tireless fundraising, has arrived," Mr Baker said.

"This is a special treatment bed used to transition a patient into a more upright or standing position, allowing them the opportunity to increase their leg strength and prevent overall deconditioning following an adverse admission that may otherwise see them partially- or fully- bedbound and not able to participate in physiotherapy."

Mr Baker said the table allows patients to perform a squatting movement without putting pressure on the lower half of their body.

"The table has a sliding function to allow the patient to perform a squatting movement at various angles," he said.

"This function is not seen on many tables on the market, and will benefit a large variety of patients including: post-stroke, traumatic brain injury and other neurological diagnoses such as Guillain-Barre syndrome, post-lower limb fractures, both hip/knee replacements and amputees.

"Additionally, when those functions aren't being used, it functions as an excellent general treatment bed."
