On Tuesday, July 16, judging of the Cowra Wine Show starts, with experienced winemaker Peter Kelly, from Thorn Clark Wines SA., leading another group of 17 judges from all over Australia.
The judging of the trophy wines will be held on Thursday, July 18, followed by the Exhibitors and Sponsors tasting that afternoon.
On Saturday, July 20 at 6pm, oenophiles (wine lovers) from all over get the chance to taste more than 900 wines and test their taste buds against the expert's opinion, when the doors to the show pavilion open for the public tasting.
This event gives wine lovers, wine buffs and those simply wanting to learn more about wines the opportunity to taste the newly awarded gold, silver and bronze medal winning wines, as well as those wines the judges didn't love quite as much.
Trophy winning wines, sparkling wines, dessert wines and fortified wines will be poured by RSA accredited stewards.
As well as the many wines available for tasting, there will be an excellent selection of delicious finger food to sate the patron's palates.
Mr Flannery said tickets, priced at $67, can be purchased from the Cowra Show Office or online at trybooking.com
Mr. Flannery also said, to make the evening more lighthearted and enjoyable, a prize of six bottles of wine will be awarded to the group of at least six patrons, who dress as a "theme' of their choice on that night.
As Mr Flannery has advised, that as he is the sole judge of the contest, he is open for bribes.
The Cowra Wine Show Presentation Dinner will be held on Saturday, August 3 at the Cowra Showground Pavilion.
On this glittering evening, trophies will be presented to the award winning exhibitors, who, along with paying guests, then enjoy a sumptuous six course degustation dinner and the chance to sample up to 20 award winning wines.
Trophy medal winning winemakers will be asked to give a brief talk about their wine as we are tasting them.
Bookings for this dinner are essential.
Tickets are $90 per head and are available from the Show Office on 6342 1977.
