Held at the Cowra Services Club, and with special guests and former Wallabies Beau Robinson, Jeremy Paul and Bill Young in attendance to present several awards, the night was a veritable feast of local sport.
World champion Seears took home the Sportsperson of the Year award, while emerging soccer player Clayton Hayes, currently playing for Gungahlin in the ACT, was awarded with this year's Cowra Services Club scholarship.
Meanwhile in a pleasant surprise for the Under 14s Cowra Junior Magpies, they were awarded with the Sports Team of the Year Award for their efforts in winning last year's Group 10 Junior Premiership.
While this year's event didn't contain a Hall of Fame inductee, historical and long-term achievements were also recognised, with Craig and Narelle Hyeronimus' involvement with Cowra Jockey Club earning the Bob Barr Memorial Shield as well as a minute's silence held for the late Barry Doyle, the former sports editor of the Cowra Guardian who inaugurated Sportsperson of the Year with Don Kibbler nearly 40 years ago.
Meanwhile, Robinson delivered a keynote address about attitude and effort, followed by a jovial question-and-answer session with all three special guests led by the Cowra Eagles Rugby Club's Ben Casey.
