"I've had a lot of help from a lot of people this weekend," Gavenlock said.
The win has been several years in the making: Jason has been working with his winning team, Australian draught horses Jigsaw and Tom, since they were foals.
"I get a lot of satisfaction out of working with young horses, over time you do get to know their strengths and weaknesses," Gavenlock noted.
Meanwhile, judges Chris Chapman, Doug Tuckwell and John Marshall, who have all held the title themselves, acknowledged that separating the four ploughmen on Sunday afternoon was tough.
"These young guys have done exceptional jobs - there were very few points between first and fourth," Mr Chapman said.
