- An ODE is a poem that can be sung or used as an address in an exalted style. The word ode (from Ancient Greek ) is a type of lyrical stanza. It is an elaborately structured poem praising or glorifying an event or individual, describing nature intellectually as well as emotionally.
- WINTER is the coldest season of the year, and when the Festival is held. The name comes from an old Germanic word that means "time of water".
The theme fits perfectly with the Henry Lawson Festival given its origins with the bush poetry of Henry Lawson and cool June long weekends when the festival is always held. The Festival Committee said they were hoping that everyone would embrace the 2019 theme and are ready for Main Street to be transformed into a winter wonderland.
The theme could lead to some spectacular floats, costumes, window displays, art and photography entries and much more. From winter sports and clothes to winter crops and weather, the options are endless, with locals and visitors alike definitely in for a treat.
