The theme for The Sydney Folk Festival is 'The next generation of folk music' and festival Artistic Director, Warren Fahey AM, said the festival was emphasizing young performers like Josh.
"Josh won the Folk Federation of NSW's Young Folk Award in 2018," he said.
"When I was looking for an image to promote the festival I decided his looked just right since we're promoting the festival as 'the next generation of folk music'.
"I want this festival to break down misconceptions about folk music," he said.
Mr Fahey said over 60 bands and 225 individual performers, including Josh, will be involved over the three day festival.
"The program will be extremely diverse, have an emphasis on youth but, at the same time, salute the legends of folk music," he said.
"Hopefully the Sydney Folk Festival can shake up Sydney's 'nanny state' hiatus and breathe some musical life into the city."
President of the Folk Federation, Brian Jonathon, said a festival like this in Sydney was long overdue.
The festival is presented by the Folk Federation of NSW and will be held on August 16 through to August 18.
