Chair of the Japanese Garden, Bob Griffiths, has welcomed the opening of an extension to the Garden's Education Centre.

Mr Griffiths said the extension wouldn't be possible without the Calleen Trust and state government.

"The Education Centre had limited use because we didn't have modern amenities nearby," he said.

"We appreciate the work that has gone into it and we are delighted with the result."

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, said she was delighted with the extension.

"I'm so pleased the NSW Government recognised the value of this project and chipped in $22,000 to make it happen," she said.

"The Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre is synonymous with Cowra's identity and I'm so proud to see it growing."
