This year children will share the story "Alpacas with Maracas" by Matt Cosgrove at Cowra Library with thousands of other children at the same time across Australia followed by craft activities.
The book follows Macca and his pal Al through a talent contest, but what will their act be? Will they shimmy and shake? Dance and prance? Whatever they choose, it will surely be a performance to remember.
Central West Libraries Manager Jan Richards said 2019 will be the biggest year yet for the event with 1 million children throughout the country sharing the story.
"Now in its 19th year, National Simultaneous Storytime is well established on the Library calendar and this year's story is a real treat." she said.
"The story features alpacas Macca and Al in a talent show. It takes them some time to work out they can play the maracas. It is a great rhyming story and very entertaining."
"There is no need to book at any of the libraries. Please just come along and join in the fun," she said.
National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association.
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
