After a longer off-season than most winter sports - and one in which last year's premiers, the Dubbo Demons fell victim to a lack of numbers on the eve of the season - Day, who coaches alongside his sister Sarah, said the team is rearing to go.
"We are looking to really start the season strongly," Day said.
"We have had round one and two earmarked for a long time as games we really want to put our best foot forward and get our season up and going."

- Cowra Blues women's co-coach Chris Day
With several players that are new to the game of Australian Rules, Day is already excited at the improvement they have shown across the pre-season.
"The girls have been working extremely hard at training on their basic footy skills and the improvement everyone has shown is more than I could have asked for," he said.
Parkes, who like Cowra struggled for wins last year, will prevent a strong opportunity for the Blues women to get their season off and running on a winning note, but Day was also keen to emphasise the growth in playing numbers ahead of a long season.
"We have had a massive focus on recruitment in the off-season and are really happy with how our numbers are looking and how committed all the girls are at training," Day said.
The co-coach, who is also captaining the men's side this year as they look two rebound from two years outside of the CWAFL, was also excited for how combined training sessions with the men's team have helped the girls and women's players increase their skills.
"The way they have competed at training, especially in contested work against our men's team, will be really exciting to see in how it translates into the senior women's matches."
Bounce-down for the women's Blues will be at 12.30pm, followed by a match-up between men's Blues and Panthers from 2.30pm.
Both men's teams will also be looking for their first win for the season, with Parkes coming off a fortnight long break.
