Cowra Business Chamber, Cowra Tourism and Newcrest Mining's Cadia Valley Operations have combined to present the visit.
The event will start at 9am on Saturday 6 April, 2019 at the Rogue Carriage Cafe in Cowra, heading to the Cadia mine site for a 2.5 hour guided tour departing from Blayney.
The bus will then return to Cowra for few nibbles and drinks at the Rogue Carriage.
Features of this year's Open Day mine site tour will include:
- Expansive machinery display showcasing the site's latest machinery
- Heavy vehicle workshop in action
- Cadia's progressive rehabilitation and site tailings storage facilities
- Panoramic views of the Cadia open pit
Cowra Business Chamber president Jordan Core said the Open Day is a fantastic opportunity for the community to experience firsthand the surface mining operations of Cadia.
A display centre featuring interactive displays, exhibits and presentations hosted by Cadia staff will be available inside the Blayney Shire Community Centre where participants will be able to learn more about Cadia's operations.
This event is strictly 50 attendees only, so race in quick, this will sell out.
All attendees must wear long pants and enclosed shoes. There will be a gold coin donation for CanAssist on the day, so remember to bring your wallet.
