The Cowra Magpies have multiple hitouts planned ahead of a season kick-off which sees them trying to go one better than last year's heartbreaking Grand Final loss.
The Magpies will travel out to Forbes to take on last year's Group 11 Premiers in a battle of the swoopers for their first hit-out since February's Challenge Cup loss to Group 11 runners-up Dubbo CYMS.
They'll then back up the following week, taking on Canberra Cup team the Queenbeyan Roos on March 23 at Sid Kallas Oval, as they build toward the Bathurst Knockout and regular season kick-off in mid-April.

After a successful Cowra Twilight Tens tournament, the Cowra Eagles are turning their attention to trial matches in Canberra this weekend, where they'll be looking to consolidate and settle their side as they seek to build on last year's Blowes Cup preliminary final loss to eventual premiers the Bathurst Bulldogs.
One particular asset from the Tens the Eagles will be looking to draw upon is the knowledge of coach Col Jeffs and the skills of Tens Tournament Colt Tim Berry, who both were part of the Greylands Invitational teams' third straight cup a fortnight ago.
Jeffs, along with the coaching team of Col Kilby and Rohan McKay, will be keen to test out a potential starting line-up ahead of Round One, with the Eagles' players spread out across several different teams throughout their Tens day.
