The 63-year-old did not appear in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, March 12 to face seven new charges relating to the alleged sexual assault of a teenage boy under the age of 16 at the times the alleged offences took place – from 2010 to 2012.
In the courtroom, Van Ryn's legal representative requested a two-week adjournment to have the agreed facts signed and Magistrate Mark Douglass said the accused could appear via audio visual link at the next court date for the case.
He adjourned the matter to March 26 for charge certification at Bega Local Court.
In September 2015 Van Ryn, who is incarcerated at Cessnock Correctional Centre, pleaded guilty to abusing nine children between 2003 and 2014 and was sentenced to 13 years and six months.
