Joe Williams shares story with students

Students from Cowra High School were given the opportunity to hear about the impacts of drugs and alcohol on mental health thanks to a visit from Joe Williams on Monday, February 25.
Mr Williams informed the students of his mental health battle, in a unique twist to his talk he also shared some of the music that struck a chord with him through his journey.
"Music breaks it up with kids and for me it's been a great healer," he said.
"The songs I played, for me they are all very significant in my life and my journey so it takes me back and transports me to that place of significance.

"It is a universal language and speaks to people whether it's through the lyric or melody, music has the ability to heal people," he said.
Mr Williams said it was through connections that we could find healing.
"It's our kids unfortunately that are being represented massively in mental health rates," he said.
"You know when teachers are coming up to you and saying 'they're never this quiet', that tells you you've had an impact."
