This year council will be hosting a free morning tea for all to attend in the Council Public Meeting Room from 10.30am – 11:30am.
“Whilst International Women’s Day is all about celebrating women’s achievements around the world, we have much to celebrate right here in Cowra which is why Council will be hosting a free morning tea,” Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bill West said.
There will also be a photo competition open to all ages within the Cowra Shire.
The theme for the photo competition is the International Women’s Day #BalanceforBetter slogan.
“We invite anyone from the Cowra region to submit their #BalanceforBetter pose and look forward to seeing what participants come up with when striking the pose,” said Cr West.
Council’s #BalanceforBetter photo competition will close on Tuesday, March 5 at 4pm with participants to submit their JPEG photographs to communityprojects@cowra.nsw.gov.au.
The top five winners will be announced at the morning tea on March 8.
Guests attending are also invited to make a donation on the day, with proceeds to go towards the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre Domestic Violence Refuge.
“We look forward to the Cowra community getting involved in International Women’s Day and placing a donation on the day for the CINC Domestic Violence Refuge,” Cr West said.
