The 2019 NSW Seniors Festival kicks off tomorrow and local Cowra seniors are being encouraged to enjoy new experiences, continue learning and impart their skills.

This year there will be a number of events matching this year’s theme ‘Love your Life’ encouraging older people in the community to live active and connected lives.
Wednesday, February 13, will see a Pool Party and Services Expo hosted by Cowra Council launch the festival from 10am to 2pm and a Gooloogong Valentine’s Day community lunch hosted by Meals on Wheels at Gooloogong Hotel. RSVP to Denise on 6342 4165, cost $10.
On Thursday, February 14, there will be a Valentine’s Day morning tea held at the Cowra Senior Citizens Centre hosted by Cowra U3A at 10.30am.
Friday, February 15, the Cowra Food Hall will have a senior’s discount, with two additional items included in your Food Hall shopping basket when you show your Seniors Card and CINC will hold a Community Morning Tea at 10.30am.
Saturday, February 16, a Seniors Cinema will be hosted by Cowra Council at Cowra Civic Centre at 2pm. “The Secret Scripture” will be shown with refreshments for seniors. Tickets are limited to 80 and are available at Council.
Monday, February 18, CINC will host a High Tea from 11am to 1pm (limited to 80 people), RSVP to CINC on 6340 1100. The Cowra Bowling Club and Cowra Senior Citizens will then host Barefoot Bowls at 5pm. Game and sausage sizzle included for $2.
On Tuesday, February 19, Morning Melodies will be hosted by Cowra Services Club at 10am with free morning tea and entertainment.
Wednesday, February 20, the Annual Seniors Lunch “Capturing and Documenting our Stories” will be hosted by Meals on Wheels at the Cowra Bowling Club. $5 and RSVP to Denise on 6342 4165 by Friday, February 15.
On Thursday, February 21, the CWA Canimbla Clickers will host two CWA Craft sessions at the Cowra Showground Pavillion, 10am – 12pm or 1pm – 3pm. Please bring two bath towels for use during workshops. RSVP to Geraldine on 0422 353 499, entry is a gold coin donation.
On Friday, February 22, the Cowra Food Hall will again have a senior’s discount with one additional item included in your Food Hall shopping basket and CINC will host another Community Morning Tea.
Rounding out the festival on Sunday, February 24 the 11th Annual Great Seniors Trivia Challenge will be held at the Cowra Bowling Club from 1.30pm. $2 per person, with tables of eight players or turn up and we’ll find you a spot.
First prize is $100 and the perpetual trophy, second prize $60 and third prize of $40. There is also a Wooden Spoon for the team with the lowest score.
