James for those who haven’t heard of him is a local who has made his name in the art of wrestling.
He has been an integral part of bringing the pro wrestling event Western Warfare to Cowra and in turn raising money for local charities such as the Riding for the Disabled.
In the ring James is known as “High Octane”.
Pro wrestling is a form of performing art.
It’s combination of athletics and theatrical performance is enjoyed by crowds both young and old, who participate and engage with the performers.
James’s efforts in wrestling were rewarded in 2016 when he was added to the ICW Australian Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Cowra Rotary president Mr Bill Murphy and Dr Whiley’s widow Jean were on hand to make the presentation at Cowra’s Australia Day Award Ceremony.
Afterwards they enjoyed a luncheon hosted by Cowra Evening CWA. Cowra’s Australia Day Ambassador Valerie Parr was also in attendance.
Valerie is very well known author with around 34 million copies of her books sold.
She was an interesting and engaging speaker.
President Bill Murphy said, “The Rotary Club of Cowra was proud to present James Lanham with his award. He is a very worthy recipient, bringing positive promotion of our town and allowing Cowra to experience the thrill of live pro wrestling.”
