Round two of the Cowra Community Grants Scheme 2018–19 opened on Friday, February 1 and eligible individuals and community groups have until Thursday, February 28 to lodge their applications.
“Council appreciate the number of community groups based within the Cowra Shire and the work they do and would like to help them through this grants program so that they can continue to give back to the community in a number of ways for years to come,” Cowra Mayor, Cr Bill West said.
In recent years, the Grants program has supported dozens of local sports, community and cultural groups with help in purchasing equipment, signage, publications, building and infrastructure, natural resource management, and small capital equipment.
Similar to last year, Council is looking for community groups who are not-for-profit, primarily volunteer-run and based within the Cowra Shire with projects that directly benefit the local community.
Successful applicants in the most recent round in November 2018 were for a variety of important local projects including $800 to the Cowra Little Athletics Club for the a high jump mat trolley, $1430 to the Cowra Senior Citizens for a new gas heater, $1000 to the Cowra Model Aircraft Club for a defibrillator, and $2000 to the Cowra Show Society to rewire the sound system within the Cowra Showground Pavilion.
“The successful applications from 2018 were an outstanding bunch and we have enjoyed seeing their projects come to fruition due to the funding. We are looking forward to seeing what ideas Cowra community groups come up with for this round,” Cr West said.
Applicants that were successful in the most recent round of Council’s grants program are able to apply again under this round, provided they have submitted their acquittal report.
Applicants are eligible to receive up to a total value of $3000 in grant funds per financial year.
Application forms and guidelines are available at Council’s website: www.cowracouncil.com.au and at Council’s front desk at 116 Kendal St, Cowra.
