A dominant bowling display from Dubbo skipper Mat Skinner (3/16) and Lee Price (3/16) saw Cowra’s middle order collapse and finish all out for 83.
It was the same story with Cowra’s fielding efforts, with missed catches and dropped balls resulting in a Dubbo victory with five wickets to spare.
Cowra captain Mick Curtale said the team has room to improve.
“Didn’t score enough runs obviously, the wicket had a fair bit in it,” he said.
“No one got a big score and 80-odd was never going to be enough.”
Top scorer was Jacob McNaught on 34 with Josh Carmody and Curtale falling for ducks off Skinner’s bowling.
He thanked the team for their efforts this year and will now prepare for a Grinsted Cup game and next season.
“We’ve had a few decent performances this year but we just haven’t scored enough runs,” he said.
“We will be better next year, we have a lot of young blokes so they will be a year older and will build on this season.”
Dubbo captain Mat Skinner said the team was looking to have a bowl after seeing Cowra’s softer pitch.
“We lost the toss but fortunately they had a bat anyway,” he said.
“We put pressure on them early and got a few early wickets.”
Opening batsmen Bailey Edmunds and Corey McDean kicked things off for the visitors with a 25 run partnership.
Tom Nelson proved to be best with the bat for Dubbo, scoring 21 not out and forming a decent partnership with Angus Norton (12 not out).
Skinner paid tribute to the bowling lineup, saying everyone “did their job”, however the team would focus on batting before the final.
“They (bowlers) all chipped in and got a couple of wickets… so an all round effort with the bowling team,” he said.
“Batting wise, everyone made starts and up to the mid teens so a bit disappointing they didn’t carry with it and sort of get them with a few less wickets down but we were able to get a home final so that’s good.
“We have a pretty aggressive batting lineup and we sort of tend to lose wickets as a club so we will try to improve on that.”
Dubbo will now go on to play a home final.
