Severe intensity heatwave conditions have been making their way across the region and leaving firefighters declaring total fire bans due to the high-risk weather.
On Wednesday the mercury soared into the 40s, with Nyngan the hottest spot in the Central West at 45.5 degrees.
While it may have been hot, it failed to top the hottest day on record of 47.0 which was recorded in 2013.
It was also very hot in Dubbo (44.3 degrees), Forbes (44.1), Parkes (43.6) and Cowra (41.8) on Wednesday.

However, those locations also failed to top January records of 45.0 set in 2013, 45.5 set in 2017, 44.1 set in 2017 and 44.8 set in 2013 respectively.
While it was hot in Mudgee on Wednesday at 40.7 degrees, the long-term January record of 42.5 set in 2014 was not broken.
Bathurst reached 37.5 degrees (long term record of 40.2 in 2013), Orange soared to 36.8 (record of 38.1 in 2013) and Oberon reached 35.5 (record of 36.0 set in 2013).
The forecast heatwave conditions are predicted to continue for the rest of this week, however, there is a chance of rain in some locations including: Bathurst, Cowra, Lithgow, Mudgee and Wellington.
