The office also received a new hot water system and extra storage cabinet.
Headspace Centre Manager, Darrin Yates, said the upgrade had been needed for a while.
“Headspace has been in this office for about eight years now,” he said.
“Since we’ve moved in, the office has expanded and the current kitchen just wasn’t suitable, so we needed to get a new one. It was quite cluttered in here, so the upgrade makes it much more aesthetically pleasing and calming to be in.
“Our staff work really hard trying to help young people with mental health issues and it’s tough and draining work.
“So this is a moral boost to staff, they don’t get a lot of thanks in this job. So this is a way they can feel appreciated by the community and the community can show they appreciate the work they do,” he said.
Mr Yates said the team was thankful for the support given to them by Bunnings and the community.
“The difficulty of being a non-for-profit is that it’s hard to get funds together to do this (the upgrade),” he said.
“So we’re really appreciative of Bunnings coming and helping us, Jamie Hibberson who raised $760 for us through Dry July and the building’s landlord supporting us.
“We are very thankful to them, without their support we wouldn’t be able to do this.
“It does mean a lot for the staff, it’s important they have a space they can come and sit and have morning tea and lunch together and relax,” he said.
Bunnings team member, Darren Smith, said they were happy to be helping an important service in Cowra.
“Part of Bunnings’ community engagement program is that we get involved in projects that help other people,” he said.
“Supporting community groups and no-for-profit organisations that help kids. Supporting Headspace and the good work they do in the community.
“My daughter has used the service here so it’s good to give something back to them,” he said.
