The Cowra Jockey Club is looking forward to the inaugural running of the Cowra Lamb Cowra Cup on Sunday, January 20 following the announcement that Cowra Breakout River Meats will sponsor this year’s event.

Jockey Club president Peter Ford welcomed the sponsorship arrangement explaining the cup would now be known as the Cowra Lamb Cowra Cup.
Chris Cummins of Breakout River Meats also sponsors the Cowra Japan Cup under the title of the Cowra Breakout River Meats Japan Cup.
Mr Ford thanked all of the meetings sponsors which, along Chris Cummins, include Peppertree Farm Equine Clinic, Newhaven Park, Jamiesons Joinery and Building Centre, McDonalds Cowra, and Janet Sprigge.

He encouraged Cowra residents to attend for a great day and also to support the club’s Cup Calcutta the previous evening at the Cowra Bowling Club from 6pm.
Guests at the calcutta will include media personality Adam Pengilly, former champion ride Allan Robinson and rugby league legends Royce Simmons, Trevor Gillmeister and Allan Langer.
Simmons will be bringing more than 20 sponsors of the Penrith Panthers rugby league club to the calcutta and the race meeting.
“Get there early to buy tickets to be in the draw to win cash prizes,” Mr Ford said.
Tickets are $2 each or three for $5.

“A sportsmans dinner will be held at the Cowra Bowling Club after the calcutta and you should contact the club for tickets,” Mr Ford said.
Tickets to the sportsmans dinner are $85 each or $800 for a table of 10.
The price includes a three course meal and Tooheys beverages.
