Prior to Christmas motorists were paying an average of 141.9 cents a litre for E10 fuel.
On Thursday the price had fallen to 129.9 cents a litre at most retailers, although the United in Kendal Street was selling fuel for 127.9 cents.
While motorists in town enjoy the cheaper price if you’re thinking about filling up the fuel tank before leaving town and heading towards Sydney along the Mid Western Highway it would pay to think again with Cowra's petrol prices still higher than towns along the way.
Bathurst prices are similar to Cowra’s at the moment with E10 selling for 126.9 cents a litre but prices become significantly cheaper after this point.
If you stop at Yetholme E10 is available for 116.9.
Just 37km further down the road in Lithgow the savings are even greater with most outlets selling fuel for 109.9 cents a litre.
In the Blue Mountains prices rise range from 110 cents a litre to 113 cents before consistently falling below 110 cents in Sydney.
