Cowra Eagles president Ian Robertson has declared his first-grade side has “unfinished business” after the release of the Blowes Cup Fixture, seeking to go one step further than last year’s Preliminary final loss to the Bathurst Bulldogs.

The Eagles will host the Bulldogs in Round Five, as part of a schedule that operates in the inverse of what the Eagles encountered last year.
“We get eight home games, seven away,” Robertson explained, adding that the benefit of hosting traditionally strong teams like Orange Emus and Forbes twice will hopefully create a winning advantage for his side.
The 15-round fixture, released just before the Christmas break, will commence on April 6, with the Home and Away fixture wrapping up at the end of July, with finals set to commence in August.
Each team will take on the other three times, with the Eagles set to travel to take on the Bulldogs again in Round Eight before hosting them again to close out the season on July 27.
While Cowra will be looking forward to take on the Bulldogs, they will not set their attention too far ahead as an opening fixture against Orange City looms.
”We understand they’ve done a lot of soul-searching, they’ll be a lot stronger than they were in 2018,” Robertson said of the beleaguered club.
However, he also made no apologies for the club’s ambitious aims for the forthcoming season after a 2018 where the club had over-achieved beyond its stated aim of a Semi-Final appearance.
“The goal in 2019 is to make the grand final, and once you’re there, you have a 50-50 chance,” Robertson said.
Robertson also said the club was rapt with their recent coaching appointments, confirmed late last year.

He credited the club’s head Senior Coach, Col Jeffs, with creating an environment that challenged the club’s coaches to learn and grow.
“[Jeffs] put all of our coaches through the Level One [coaching program] and some will be doing the Level Two this year.
“[We’re} extremely happy and comfortable with the coaching announcement.”
