E10 unleaded fuel, on average, is sitting at 141.9 cents a litre at the majority of Cowra retailers.
If you can wait it will pay to fill up in Bathurst and even more if you can make it to Lithgow.
In Bathurst E10 is selling for 129.9 at Caltex, BP Kelso and BP Raglan, a saving of 11 cents a litre.
If you stop at Yetholme E10 is available for 119.9.
Just 37km further down the road in Lithgow the savings are even greater with the BP outlet selling fuel for 117.9 a litre and Caltex 116.7 a litre.
In the Blue Mountains prices rise again to around 138 a litre before then falling again to an average of 125 a litre in Sydney.
The savings aren't anywhere near as significant if you are travelling along the Hume Highway to Sydney.
To make any saving motorists would have to make a slight detour into Goulburn (136.5 at Caltex and Mobil) or at Sutton Forest (126.7 at Caltex and 124.5 at Mobile).
Premium 98 prices follow a similar pattern.
Cowra residents are paying on between 167.9 at BP, 163.9 at Shell and 164.4 at United for Premium 98 fuel.
In Blayney the price drops to 154.9 at the Independent station.
Premium is slightly cheaper in Bathurst were motorists are filling their tank for 152.9 at the BP, 150.9 at Caltex and 152.9 at the BP Raglan.
In Lithgow the price drops to 137.7 a litre at the Caltex and BP outlets.
The news on the diesel front isn’t any more impressive with Cowra's prices once again higher than other towns along the Mid Western Highway.
The Cowra price is again at least 10 cents a litre higher, falling as you make your way towards Sydney before rising again in the Blue Mountains.
