Reports last month suggested Resource Base Limited had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with International Base Metals Limited which owns the Adelong Challenger gold mine located near Adelong south of Young with Broula King Joint Venture Pty. Ltd which owns the Broula King gold processing plant on near Greenethorpe and Bumbaldry.
Reports said the parties have identified potential opportunity to cooperate to enable prompt reactivation of both of their mine and plant operations to enable the production of gold.
Formal agreements and the initial phase of the arrangement are expected to commence in the first quarter of calendar year 2019.
The initial phase contemplates the recovery of previously mined material on-site at Adelong and trucking the material to the Broula King plant to carry out toll treatment/recovery of entrained gold into the form of gold bullion, and then return it to International Base Metals for dispatch off site.
In February this year the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) issued Broula King Joint Venture with a fine of $15,000 for failing to undertake monitoring required by the company’s environment protection licence at its Cowra gold mine.
EPA Regional Director for South and West Gary Whytcross said while the mine may currently be in care and maintenance, the EPA expects that all requirements of the licence would continue to be met.
