That’s how much Woodstock trained Banjo Fernando slashed off her previous best time over the 307 metres at Kennerson Park when she took out Monday’s Ladbrokes Cash In Maiden for trainer Darren Wort.
Banjo Fernando was backed from a forced break but promising a strong run following a trial win a week earlier.
Punters made her a $2 favourite and within the opening seconds of Monday’s return they would have been pumping their fists in joy.
Banjo Fernando got out to a two length lead over kennel mate Miss Vanuatu ($3.40) before the turn for home and almost doubled that advantage before the winning post.
Her winning time was a handy 17.65 seconds with a run home of 9.75.
That put her almost a full second clear of her previous best effort at Bathurst, a runner-up finish in 18.52 seconds back in June.
Wort’s Miss Vanuatu completed the quinella while first time runner Durama Missile ($6.90) was third.
“She got a forced break because she cramped badly over the 450m a few months ago,” Wort said of Banjo Fernando.
“I had her out in the paddock and brought her back for a couple of runs and she’s improved so much.
“We’ll just keep her going over the 300m for now.”
Wort made it a winning double at the meeting when Minnesota Miss saluted later in the evening.
The Pamela Braddon trained Little Trojan finished second in a heat of the Soldier’s Saddle.
Live On Tour (Ricky Brewer), All Night Fever (Sydney Swain), Bogan Villa (Graham Dixon) and Motor City Gem (Sam Sultana) were the heat winners.
The Braddon kennel came away from the Dubbo meeting on Sunday with a winning double to Chevey’s Magic and Sage a Blaze.
The Cowra Club races on Saturday night with a six event program.
