It was presentation time.
For the first time, the night was combined with the men and women joining together for a night of laughs, honors and rewards.
Two life memberships were awarded on the night to Mrs Jenni Fagan and also to Mr. James (Jim) Bryant.
Both have a long and generous history with the Cowra Golf Club and were fittingly rewarded with life membership.
A very big congratulations and thanks to Jenni and “Governor of Greenthorpe” Jim Bryant on behalf of the Cowra Golf Club.
Leading off on the night was James Brown winning the Bryant Trophy with Steve Lynch a very close second.
This trophy is awarded to the player with the best six nett scores over 10 months of Monthly Medal golf.
Next on the night was Wayne Rodwell winning from a fast finishing Seve Johnstone.
Only one point separated the pair after 29 rounds of golf leading into the final round where both players received maximum points for Wayne to emerge victorious.
The George Bishop trophy for Most Promising Junior went to Jayden Brown.
Congratulations Jayden.
The next award of the evening was for the Amos McLeod trophy which is a four-ball best competition and the winners and defending champions were the Governor of Greenthorpe Jim Bryant and Rodney Watt.
The lads defeated the competition heavies Brad Kennedy and Walter Webb.
Our next trophy was the Neale Cup which is a stableford knockout competition, in a keenly contested competition the final was played between David Thomas and Paul Jones.
Paul got the cash on the day from a very consistent David so congratulations Paul.
The Fagan knockout is another keenly contested event and this year was no exception with Jenny Armstrong and Alan Luff striding through the field to play Trish Moerkerken and Squeak Thompson in the final.
Victory went to Trish and Squeak for the second time in three years.
Well done team but look out for the new improved Jenny model 2.0 next season.
We had two grades in our foursomes’ championships this year and the defending B Grade champions Jono Gee and Dub McDonald were not quite able to replicate their form from 2017 and were runners up to the Davids - Spolding and Thomas.
In the A Grade Peter Kirwan and Mick Curtale were successful over young guns Kane Brooks and Sam McDonald.
Age and experience saw Peter and Mick over the line.
In the mixed foursomes the father and daughter combination of Ray and Holly Picker were victorious and defended their title from Sam McDonald and Trish Moerkerken.
The Cowra Golf Club Junior of the year was announced as Jayden Brown.
Well done Jayden keep your head down and stay with it.
Matthew Thompson was the winner of the Charles Savage Cup for the lowest scoring junior in the Club Championships.
Congratulations Matthew, it’s good to see a bit of you on the course again.
The Max Clements Cup for the winning veteran golfer at the Club Championships went to Gary Dolbel.
Well done Knocker.
Retirement is going well and you were in some terrific form over the Championships.
Well done to Ben Cook who defeated Jason Carney in the C Grade Matchplay championships.
Ben was in red hot form and this continued and saw him win well.
David Thomas proved too strong over Chris Wilson in the B Grade Matchplay championships.

David is a very good match play golfer and was only beaten by a nose on the Neale Cup too which is also a match play event.
The big dog, Peter Kirwan was successful again in the final of the A grade match play and this is his 10th in a row.
The C Grade Club Championships were dominated for three rounds by Ben Cook.
He was playing some very consistent and steady golf which had established him a handy lead heading into the final round.
Chris Day kept cool though and steadily wore down Ben.
Unknown to both, Jason Carney had some relaxing fluid and was also having a blinder and coming up the 72nd hole, the match was alive between the three of them.
Ben and Chris tied after 72 holes and went to a playoff.
The playoff was sudden death and decided after three extra holes with Ben emerging the victor.
B Grade played the Championships for the Alan Luff Cup.
Well wasn’t this bloke in some kind of form for the Championships.
Dion McAlister lead from start to finish and played terrific golf.
Dion had been practicing for a while each day and it certainly paid off come Championships time.
Matt Thompson needed a screamer in Round 4 to catch him and hope Dion came back to earth but this didn’t happen.
Congratulations Dion.
The A Grade players were playing for the Cyril Brownlie Cup.
2018 saw Peter Kirwan gunning for his 13th straight title and he was again the man to beat.
We choppers thought one of the young bucks may have been able to come out and drop a sledge or two or something on him to distract him for a while but it didn’t happen.
The pleasant surprise for us was Knocker and not one of the pups putting some scores together but the big dog was to consistent.
13 years in a row and 16 times now as Club Champion.
Congratulations Peter Kirwan.
The last award of the evening is the Combined Motors Traders Award and was fittingly won by Michael Prescott.
Congratulations Michael on the Handbrake Award.
