Run in partnership between NSW Rugby and Batyr, an organisation focused on promoting youth mental health, the evening was a part of the Get Talkin’ Tour, a program designed to promote positive physical and mental health.
The evening began with a touch footy clinic for kids running simultaneously alongside a Batyr workshop designed to equip local rugby players and adults with mechanisms to adequately discuss mental health.
After a short dinner break, an open community forum featuring locals, representatives from Batyr as well as Robinson and Roebuck initiating a question-and-answer session about rugby and mental health.
Hosted by the Cowra Eagles Rugby Union Club at their club rooms and playing field, Robinson, from the Northern beaches of Sydney, was thrilled to discuss issues with a rural audience.
“As a player you’ve got a bit of power, people tend to listen to you and hopefully you do good things with that,” Robinson said.
“When you go to different communities, you appreciate them and their hard work, especially when you’re representing them as a player.”
