Bianca, Renae, Danielle and Karla started strong against team Ella, winning the first 3 sets. Jayden and Ellie fought back with a 7-1 win but team Gibbs maintained their lead with another win in the final set.
Only two games separated Eversons and Hamptons in a see sawing match.
Terry and Col tied the first set against Glen and Mick. Cindy and Terry combined well to give Eversons the lead but Glen and Danni clawed that lead back with some great shot making. Cindy and Col played consistent tennis to win the last set 5-3 and the match by 2 games.
There were a few friendly family rivalries happening last week with Laura Price from the Garratt team taking on her mum, Lisa in the Hughes team. Lisa pairing with Luke got the win here but then Laura teamed with Helen to beat the same pair in her second set. Anabel teamed well with Lisa to give a handy lead to Hughes but Ky teamed with sister Mikelli and won 5-3 which meant Hughes were 2 games up going into the last set. Ky then teamed with Helen to win 7-1 to claim the match.
The next family match was Kate subbing in for Bowds to play against daughter Lizzie from Elwins team. This match started close with Greg and Sue having a 4-4 with young guns Jarred and Lizzie but then team Bowd took control of the rest of the nights tennis and didn’t drop a set.
The final family match of the night was with Jenni Fitzsimmons who had to take on daughter Hellen and grandchildren Deakin and Layne. Deakin teamed with Fran to tie against Jenny wright and Jenni Fitzsimmons but then Krishna teamed with Jenny Laing and then Jenny Wright and had 2 strong 7-1 wins. Another tied set was played with Jenny F against Hellen and Deakin so no one had bragging rights yet. It took until the final set for Jenni to get bragging rights over Hellen.
A convincing win was had by the Browns against Tindalls. James, Kyle and Sharyn played solid tennis to win most sets 5-3. Well played Scott and Jarred who kept James and Kyle to a 4-4.
The young team Candice have improved immensely over the comp but were no match for the in-form team of Zara, Maddy, Tom and Rachel. Thanks Maddy and Rachel for subbing in for this team.
Meeuwisse’s team started strong against Medways winning the first 4 sets, one of them being an 8-0 win to Jye and Ange. Jess and Nick finished the night with a solid win for their team but the Meeuwisse’s team won overall.
The committee will be confirming their availability from November 28 due to courts being resurfaced as we will need to split the matches over two nights.
