The highlight of her remarkable cricket career arrived when she received the Adam Gilchrist scholarship to travel to Ireland and play top level womens cricket for six months, from April to October 2018.
She was only one of two girls chosen for this Australia wide scholarship, and the first Western Zone player male or female to ever receive this.
Alana also represented ACT/NSW Country at the U18 National Championships from 2013- 2016.
She currently plays for Penrith every Sunday in the Sydney Women's First Grade competition.
She is also coaching the Kinross Wolaroi Girls cricket team, and has been appointed assistant coach for the Western Zone girls team at the U18 Country Championships.
So it is that Cowra Junior Cricket can’t believe their luck that Alana was available and has signed on to co-ordinate our Woolworths Junior Blasters, a group of 5-8 yr olds who are mostly new to cricket (open to boys and girls).
These eager little cricketers are learning the basics of the game, honing some new skills and having plenty of fun doing so.
They meet on Holman Oval from 9:30 – 10:30am each Saturday morning.
Registration (which comes with a named cricket shirt in Big Bash colours, bucket hat, bat and ball) is normally $75 however the usual fee has been waived so this year it is FREE!
If you are not sure whether your child will take to Junior Blasters cricket feel free to come along for a session or two before deciding.
In order to register go to ‘playcricket.com’ then follow the prompts to Cowra Junior Cricket.
