“We have overwhelming numbers of people offering their time and services to the community in voluntary capacities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to let them know we appreciate what they do,” Cr West said.
The Awards program celebrates our community members that contribute to the betterment of our Shire. There are four categories including:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Group of the Year and
- Dr Warren Whiley Memorial Award for Arts, Culture and Citizenship.
Recent award winners have come from several areas of the community, such as disability service, youth development, health and wellbeing organisations.
The diversity of the winners demonstrates the amazing programs residents of the Cowra Shire are involved in.
“Everyone knows a community member offering significant improvement to the Shire; let us know who they are so we can celebrate their stories with the community,” Cr West said.
Nomination forms are available on the Council website www.cowracouncil.com.au or at the Council offices. Closing date for nominations is 4pm Friday, November 30, 2018.
