Grenfell cricket product and former Cowra representative Henry Hunt turned a maiden century into a double hundred in his first innings of the match at Chisholm Oval in the nation’s capital last Monday before backing up the performance with a half century in the second innings.
Hunt finished the match with an excellent 208 from just 261 balls.
Another former Cowra junior, Tom Pinson, led the pace attack in the first innings finishing with three wickets for 70 runs off 20 overs.
Pinson and Hunt played the game alongside some elite company with Australian fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins also taking part in the match which was watched closely by both NSW and Australian selectors.
Cummins (0-49 from 15 overs) and Hazlewood (1-28 from 15) bowled four overs each on day three as they continue their preparations for a one-day international series against South Africa beginning on November 4.
In the second innings Pinson was called on to bowl just two overs finishing with the figures of 0-15 while Hazelwood bowled five overs for 0-14 and Cummins 6 overs for 1-23 as the Comets went on to win the match outright.
Hunt showed that he liked to keep the scoreboard ticking over in his first innings which included two sixes and 23 fours.
Hunt, who plays for Eastern Suburbs in McDonald’s NSW Premier Cricket, scored more than half the runs posted by ACT/NSW Country on the first day at Chisholm Oval.
Pinson who played junior cricket in Cowra before moving to Yass played last season for Sutherland in the Sydney competition.
