The idea of President Mr Bill Murphy was to gather as many local representatives from all fields and invite students from Years 9, 10 and 11 from both Cowra High School and St Raphael’s High School to attend.
“We plan to have a table with as many representatives from as many different jobs in Cowra that we can find,” Mr Murphy said.
“Some of these representatives will use the afternoon to link up with students who may be looking for jobs.”
We have contacted a number of local businesses and have received positive feedback from employers. At this stage we have confirmed there will be an electrician, a sign writer, a bricklayer, an IT specialist, a real estate agent, a plumber, a plasterer, a pharmacist and accountant and a representative from Cowra Hospital and Bilyara Nursing Home.
Cowra Shire Council representatives will also be in attendance. They have traineeships on offer and a Motor Mechanic’s apprenticeship available. The electrician we have engaged is also looking for an apprentice.
TAFE Western will have representatives with 2019 course information.
So if you are an employer who would like to be involved or a student who would like to find out more about a profession please let President Bill Murphy know by calling 6342 1311 for more information.
