Cowra Show Society President, Anne Jeffery, said events such as the Cowra Show Rodeo, Demolition Derby and the first ever Lawn Mower Racing attracted large crowds.
“The stewards did a fantastic job,” she said.
“We had five cars in the demolition derby. A firetruck had to hose things down, there were no dramas but it adds to the excitement.
“Everyone in town is talking about the rodeo and now we are thinking about how to make it bigger and better next year.
Some of Australia’s top riders featured at the event, however no-one made the eight seconds.
“It says something about the quality of the bulls. They are some of the top bulls in the country,” Mrs Jeffery said.
Horse events also proved popular, with 160 entries, despite a number of events clashing with this year’s show date.
“We were unsure of how the horses would go, but it was a good roll up. We had five rings and it was busy on Saturday and Sunday,” she said.
“The Cowra Riding for the Disabled all turned up, beautifully dressed up and had a lovely day.”
Despite concerns about pavilion entries due to drought conditions, Mrs Jeffery said it was a great display.
“It was really well supported, great produce and beautiful flowers,” she said.
Mrs Jeffery stressed entries into the pavilion need to be picked up by the end of the week.
Ute Show steward Rachel Moore said while numbers were down on last year, the competition attracted people from across NSW.
“We had entries coming from Dubbo, Orange, Blayney, Parkes and Lithgow,” she said.
“We are working on building it to be bigger and better next year, we have a few things in the pipeline.”
Mrs Jeffery said while numbers were a little bit down on the Saturday, the committee was pleased with gate numbers.
“The gate for the Rodeo was excellent, probably down a little bit on Saturday,” she said.
“But the rides were quite busy, a steady stream of people pouring in on Saturday afternoon. The committee was pretty happy with how things went.”
Mrs Jeffery thanked all of the stewards and sponsors for their support.
"We are conscience to the fact that we couldn’t survive without them,” she said.
“We have certainly got a lot of things in mind to make bigger and better next year.”
