Jumara Cutmore of Pridham Street made an application to the court for release while he faced charges of common assault, destroy or damage property and contravene an apprehended violence order.

All charges related to an incident which involved Cutmore damaging the front door panel of a car and a common assault on a protected person on Saturday, October 6. He was on bail for other offences at the time.

“Because you were on bail when the further offending took place it puts you in a position where the onus is on you to show cause why detention is not justified.”

“You’ve raised issues about where you would live, how you would get there and what you intend to do. That’s all well and good. The problem is the fact it doesn’t address why detention is not justified.

“I am unable to allow you to be released on bail. This is not a decision by the court to make life more difficult for you, it is the legislation that binds the court,” Mr O’Brien told Cutmore.

The matters were adjourned to November 22.

Solicitor for Cutmore, Mr Song, proposed to the court that his client intended to live in Orange if his “show cause” hearing was successful.

A 29 year old Cowra man has been fined $300 and suspended for six months. 

Corey Stuart McKeown of Weeroona Place failed to appear before the Cowra Local Court, charged with driving a motor vehicle with an illicit drug present in blood. 

According to the police facts, around 9.25am on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, a white Holden Commodore sedan driven by Mr McKeown was stopped by police on Scenic Drive for the purpose of a random breath and drug test. 

While his breath test was negative, his oral fluid test returned a positive detection to cannabis. 

Mr McKeown was arrested for the purpose of a secondary oral fluid test at Cowra Police Station, where he tested positive for THC. 

When asked about the drug use, Mr McKeown said “I had a couple of cones last night”.
