The Cowra Japanese Garden saw an incredible 2462 visitors pass through the gates in just three days.
Cowra Tourism says the success of the October Long Weekend can be attributed to a number of different factors including the 'Fields of Gold' as canola sprouted up throughout the region.
"We're happy to see so many visitors come to the region, the Cowra Visitor Information Centre alone had around 1300 visitors over the weekend which is a 24% increase from last year," Cowra Tourism Manager, Belinda Virgo said.
“Based on previous years, we anticipated that we would have a large amount of people from Sydney come down to see our beautiful canola fields, it's because of this that we've been offering our 'Fields of Gold' canola tours.
"The Cowra 'Fields of Gold' Canola Tours are a safe alternative to self-guided tours as many canola fields are located alongside busy roads, creating safety and traffic issues.
“There have also been a number of instances of visitors unknowingly trespassing on private property, raising a number of concerns as well".
Ms Virgo said Cowra Tourism has been promoting safe and responsible canola tourism throughout the season, ensuring that the message is communicated to all visitors seeking canola, whether it be at the Visitor Information Centre, on social media or over the phone.
Cowra Tourism have even implemented bilingual messages in their marketing material to overcome the language barrier that is in place for some visitors.
Ms Virgo said spring is the busiest season for the Cowra, with visitors and caravaners coming from near and far to enjoy the region's wide variety of offerings, including delicious food, organic wines, historical sites, amazing views, beautiful gardens, waterways and so much more.
“There is no better time to visit the region that truly offers visitors 'The Great Escape',” she said.
