Friday, October 12 will see the Cowra Show Rodeo, set to be the feature attraction for the Cowra Show, kick the action off at 4pm with the barrel racing. Junior steer rides will be next on the program, while the Lachlan Fertilizers Rural Novice Bull Ride will showcase the up and coming bull riders of the industry, and is set to be a popular event, along with the Imperial Hotel Novice Saddle Bronc Ride.
Emma Boland from the Cowra Show Rodeo committee said they were expecting entries from cowboys and cowgirls from across the state who were chasing points in both the National Rodeo Competition standings and the Southern Zone Rodeo Association, so the competition would be tough across the board.
The Open Saddle Bronc and Bareback rides will keep the crowd on their feet before the Open Bull Ride tops off an amazing evening. The open events are sure to be crowd favourites, with competitors all vying for an Eddie Fisher ‘RideTuff’ buckle that is up for grabs in each event.
There will be a BBQ available, as well as a coffee van and bar facilities throughout the event, along with an after party at the Imperial Hotel. Emma said that it was great to see so many generous sponsors and supporters come on board to help make the rodeo such a great event and she can’t wait to see everyone there.
On Saturday the show gets into full swing with everyone’s favourites such as showjumping, the animal nursery, stock judging and sideshow alley complete with it’s thrilling rides and tasty treats.
Cowra Show President, Anne Jeffrey, said that recent renovations to the pavilion including new lights, re-roofing and opening up the big windows will allows the crowd to enjoy all the entries from across the region including stunning artworks and photography, delicious baked goods, beautiful floral arrangements and many more handicrafts and home grown goods.
Anne also said that with all the attractions that had been able to encourage, there will be an event of interest to everyone, and there is certainly a long list of them. From the more traditional attractions including the dog high jump, wood chop and the speed shearing competition, to the more action packed events such as the lawn mower racing, farmers challenge and the demolition derby, the crowd will certainly get their fill of non-stop entertainment.
