For every new property listed for sale in spring, once sold, LJ Hooker will donate $500 to Drought Angels.
Also, if you choose LJ Hooker to manage your investment property in spring, the team will donate the letting fee to the charity.
Sales Consultant Stephen Haslam said it was a way for the real estate agency to help give back to those who need it most.
“We felt as though we wanted to do something for the community and there was a lot of other industries that were helping to donate to different things,” he said.
“Every little bit counts and we are doing what we can.
“That’s where we came up with the idea that if people list with us over spring, we will happily donate $500 of our commission towards the drought relief and then also, on the property management side, we’ll donate the letting fee as well.”
With the warmer months being busier for the team, Stephen said he hopes to see more donations rolling in for farmers.
“Just little bits and hopefully over the next few months, it will build up to be not a bad amount,” he said.
“We thought it is easier for us to put a dollar figure on it… it’s really just a thought that we wanted to do something for the community and be seen as more than just an agent.”
Property Investment Manager Alisha Carlon said customers were thrilled with the idea.
“It’s been well received,” she said.
“We’ve got a few new properties in management, coming into spring we get quite busy... I think we will have a few as well.”
Stephen said the team will hold the drive throughout the spring months, however are happy to extend it should it prove to be popular.
“We thought, we need to put a timeline on it, so we do it for spring and then see how well we do and analyse and then happy to continue it on,” he said.
“On the sales side, people are more than happy for us to do it, they think it is a good idea.”
