Amanda Ovington of Tilga street was before the court charged with intimidation intending fear or physical harm and breaches of bonds.
According to police facts around 9.30am on June 20, Ovington called the home phone of her victim. She spoke briefly to a witness before the phone was picked up by the victim.
When she was handed to the victim, Ovington became abusive, swearing and yelling at her victim saying, “I’m going to come down to your house and kick your front door in and bash you and your mother”.
The victim then hung up the phone and attempted to call police. When the call with the police station would not connect, the victim then tried dialing Triple zero.
During her attempts to call Triple zero, Ovington kept calling the victim. Eventually the victim was able to contact police, who attended and took a statement.
The victim contacted police again at around 11.39am, informing them Ovington had contacted her saying she was coming to her house to kick her teeth in. Police were also contacted by a witness at 11.55am saying Ovington had been outside the victim’s home, yelling abuse and taking photos of the residence.
At around 12pm, police found Ovington near the victim’s house and arrested her. At Cowra Police station she was given the opportunity to take part in an interview but refused.
Ovington’s solicitor Mr Johnson told the court that, given his client’s personal history, “one might say is it any wonder she acts like she does”.
“Her history doesn’t escape me, she has unresolved tragedy in her life and has gone through a lot of trauma,” he said.
While sentencing Ovington, Magistrate Michael O’Brien, said he would take no action on her bonds but that was not likely to happen again.
“This matter is aggravated by the fact that she has prior bonds, she had plead guilty which is to her credit, but people should not have to put up with her behaviour,” he said.
