Morris Gleitzman made the visit as part of a national tour he is undertaking as the current Australian Children’s Laureate for 2018 and 2019.
The theme for Gleitzman’s two-year term will be “Stories Make Us – Stories Create Our Future”.
Cowra Librarian, Caroline Eisenhauer, said it was fantastic to have Mr Gleitzman speak to Cowra’s children.
“It’s big coup to have him here,” she said.
“He was at Parkes yesterday and then he’s headed to Bathurst and Orange after that.
“So It gives the kids from country towns inspiration and shows them there’s something about stories that is special,” she said.
Ms Eisenhauer said Mr Gleitzman was very supportive of children's literacy.
“The tour is about promoting children’s literacy and it’s a big opportunity for Cowra, because we don’t often get such prestigious authors here,” she said.
