At the last meeting of Council, councillors voted to offer free entry to Seniors’ Card holders at the Cowra Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, February 13.
In his report to Council, Director Corporate Services, Michael Jones, said the aim in offering free entry is to involve seniors in a healthy and social event.
“The pool party will contribute to healthy, active senior lives, promoting good health and lifelong physical activity,” he said.
“Furthermore it is hoped that in hosting this event, seniors will re-engage with the aquatic centre activities.”
Councillor Bruce Miller said the offer may also see an increase in numbers for the Aqua MIPs program in the warmer months.
“Anything that will our expose our seniors to activity, the joy and benefits of MIPS,” he said.
“It is a terrific organisation that will expose them to camaraderie and it might build up numbers.”
