The 80th birthday dinner was well attended, with many current and past members enjoying a lovely evening of stories, catching up with friends and making many new ones.
The delicious meal was organised by Bryan Dawes, the room beautifully decorated by Ava Livne and Christine Murphy and the cake was decorated by Jamie Kiss from the Cowra Bowling Club.
As always, the staff of the Cowra Bowling Club went above and beyond to assist and we thank them immensely for their help.
Cowra Rotary’s longest serving member Mr George Bishop was given the honour of cutting the cake. Allan Harcombe donated money towards the cost of the cake and we were able to take quite a bit of the cake to Allan and his fellow Bilyara residents.
Guests on the night included past members Peter and Kay Holst from Sydney, David Williams from Young, Jean Whiley from Orange, AG Julie Poplin from Boorowa and Sylvester and Derrian Walsh.
A rolling display of Rotarian activities from times gone by prepared by Don Collins, assisted by Richard Muggridge. Harry Howard also provided photos for the display.
Rotarians Bryan Dawes, Bob Griffiths and Peter Chivers spoke of past activities and Rotarians. Col Hitchens spoilt us with two quizzes on the night that he said were easy but we all struggled to get the answer.
“Overall I think it was a great night and I thank everyone for coming and making it such a great evening,” President Bill Murphy said
