It is two years since we last heard this magnificent choir on stage in Cowra.
Chor-Farmer have been coming to Cowra as part of their peace and Goodwill Tours of New Zealand and Australia every two years for the past 42 years.
The Cowra concert is the last of their 2018 tour having performed in Tauranga, Featherston, Nelson, and Dunedin in New Zealand, and Lobethal, Adelaide, on Tuesday night.
Choir Founder, Conductor and Musical Director Mr Hiroshi Masumoto will again take the stage, along with pianist Ms Masako Yuyama and 26 Graduates and Students of the Tokyo University of Agriculture.
All repertoires of Chor-Farmer are Hiroshi Masumoto’s arrangements.
He has a profound knowledge of a genre to be wide to world folk songs and popular music as well as classical music including Schubert.
And he gives rich music characteristics to Chor-Farmer.
He shows the superior ability for various creation activity for the choir with a computer, making music scores and CDs, and editing of publicity booklet of the choir.
The Choir members will been reunited with their long time host families and will spend three nights in Cowra.
Tickets for tonight’s concert are available at the door, Adults $15. Concession $7
All proceeds to the Cowra Seikei Student Exchange Programme, which this year is celebrating its 49th year of continuous 12 month exchange between Cowra High School and Seikei High School in Tokyo.
The Seikei exchange has been going for nearly 50 years, offering a scholarship which pays airfares and insurance to the value of $3,000.
Most other expenses are covered by the school in Japan or host families.
The student lives with three or four different host families and attends school for the year.
The organising committee would like to publicly thank the Cowra M and D Society for graciously delaying the opening night of their production Chitty Chitty Bang Bang until tomorrow night to allow Chor-Farmer to perform at the Civic Centre tonight.
