Tidy Towns Committee chair, Judi Smith, said the awards were an educational experience for those who took part.
“The awards take a lot of time to organise and we really do appreciate those who sponsor and take part in them,” she said.
“Along the way I hope you all had a lot of fun and that you’ve learned something about the importance of recycling and how we can upcycle a lot of things into amazing works of art.
“I’d like to thank our three judges Yvonne Lorrie, Mary Ford and Ariel Pickle, our major sponsors; Cowra Shire Council, Cowra Services Club, McDonalds’s Cowra, Dominos Pizza and all our other sponsors.”
Sponsors were:
- Holmwood Wreckers
- Lachlan Steel Power Tools Plus
- Woolworths
- Subway
- Mark’s Pumps
- Cowra Tyre and Brake Centre
- Darby’s Falls Progress Association
- Cowra Art Group
- Central Milling
- Wyangala Bowling Club
- Brooks Cowra
- Oz Plants
- Websters Optometrists and
- Wyangala Country Club
Mayor Bill West said the awards encouraged young people of all ages to be involved with the arts.
“The awards are an opportunity to extend students minds and have them thinking about the world around them,” he said.
“To take them into a sphere of what is rubbish to some people or materials that are pre-loved, can be turned into something artistic. It is a great opportunity to learn not just about the environment but about recycling as well.
“This is a great program and I thank you Judi and the Tidy Towns committee for what you do on a year in and year out basis. I hope it continues for years to come.”
