Opening the exhibition, Mayor Bill West said the talent on display was amazing.
“We tend to look at youth, and every generation does this, we look at youth and say ‘we’re doomed’,” he said.
“They’re lazy, they won’t get out of bed, they won’t do their homework, we’ve all been there and done that.
“But talking about the works here and the stories behind the works, the world really is in good hands.”
Helping to open the exhibition was the Department of Education’s Rural South and West Director of Educational Leadership, David Lloyd, who echoed Mayor West’s comments.
“The quality of work here is amazing and it does represent the amazing teaching that happens in our schools,” he said.
“I’d like to acknowledge the teachers here today that have mentored, coached, pushed and cajoled to see these works done.”
The exhibition runs from September 9 to October 7.
