September 7 marked the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated with friends and family at the Cowra Bowling Club on Saturday night. Brian and Myra went to school together however did not start dating until the pair worked at Edgell’s Cannery.
“We sort of knew who each other were but then we’d gone separate ways, he moved to Cowra and never thought I’d come into contact with him much until I got a job down at Edgell’s,” Myra said.
“I worked in most positions and he was a fitter of machines… He was walking past one day and stopped and asked if I would go out with him.”
The pair were married on September 7, 1968 at the Church of England and had the reception at the Cowra Services Club.
Myra’s bridesmaids were Helen Burton and Marilyn Melhuish and the best man was Donald Kemp.
The couple have three children, Kathy, Michael and Sharon and eight grandchildren.
