A man is in custody and a police officer was taken to hospital after an incident in Canowindra this morning.

Fire and Rescue NSW and police were called to Robinson Street at 9am this morning after reports of a house on fire.
According to Fire and Rescue NSW Central West Zone Commander, Superintendent Brett Jackson a house was not on fire when the Canowindra brigade arrived at the scene but they were confronted by a man carrying a burning container.
Supt Jackson described the man as “quite aggressive”.
Police will allege that the man smashed the driver’s side window of the fire truck when it arrived shortly after 9am.
“Our officers withdrew to a safe location and waited for police to arrive,” Supt Jackson said.
When police from Cowra arrived they found a man carrying a burning plastic container in a nearby street.
Officers arrested the man.
It will be alleged the man become violent towards police.
A male senior constable received burns to his face and other injuries while a male sergeant was also assaulted.
The senior constable was taken to Canowindra Hospital for further treatment and medical checks.
The sergeant did not require further medical assistance.
While combating the fire, it will be alleged that police and firefighting vehicles were damaged.
Inquiries are continuing.
