As she told her teacher, Mrs Baratto, “if we don’t do something soon the shelves at the supermarkets will be bare”.
Kate decided to sell chocolates as her fundraising venture.
Mrs Baratto helped Kate order the chocolates and they thought at first that they would start with three boxes but when the minimum order turned out to be 12 they thought “let’s go for it!”
Kate has been selling the chocolates every day at recess and lunch at Mulyan Public School and even set up her own stall at the school’s Open Day mini fair.
Kate’s friends Daniel and Shaila have also chipped in, with Shaila donating lolly bags to sell and Daniel designing posters.
Kate is hoping to make close to $1000 for the drought affected farmers.
Her teachers and peers at Mulyan Public School are extremely proud of Kate and her initiative.
